Equestrian Blogs You Should Be Reading If You Aren’t Part II

It’s been well over a year since my first SMTT pseudo-blogging awards post, and with so many new blogs sprouting up I figured it was time for an update.  Some of these may be new to you, and some aren’t… but here’s my list of favorites circa 2014.  If I haven’t listed you, it doesn’t mean I hate or don’t read your blog.  I always keep a list of favorites in my side bar and I read and (try to) comment on oh so many blogs.  Love the blogging community!

Favorite Blog of my Not So Favorite Discipline – Alchemy Eventing
We know eventing isn’t really my jam, but there are several eventing blogs that I really like.  One of these blogs is Alchemy Eventing!  I identify (and am sure others can too) with Lindsey taking a green Thoroughbred and trying to make the best of showing, training and life.  With school, life, finances and etc I like reading this blog because I just know (and still know) the feeling of juggling to make riding happen in your life and really respect those who persevere to do so.

Best Adventures with a Baby Horse and Badass Hunter/Jumper Princess Blog – Diary of a Horse Obsessed Girl
Somewhat newer to me, but I really really like Diary of a Horse Obsessed Girl.  She breaks so many hunter/jumper stereotypes by keeping her horses at home, working full time and doing a ton of stuff herself.  Plus she just got a really nice jumper baby, and reading about her journey with him is educational and enlightening.  Very much worth checking out!

Bloggers I Live Vicariously Through – Pia’s & Prarie’s Parade and Confessions of a Wanna Be Jumper
I’ll admit, every time the lovely Prair of Pia’s & Prarie’s Parade goes to a horse show I’m both jealous and on the edge of my seat.  That kind of showing (and lovely horse) is my ultimate goal one day, so I just like reading about the experience.  Plus Gingham is open and gives insights to a world not many of us know!  Also in this category is the very new to me blog, Confessions of a Wannabe Jumper.  It has all the right elements to lead to an exciting blog… fancy big name trainer (who I thought I had figured out but now am confused), 1.0m+ jumpers, big time horse shows… plus the writing is excellent!

Something for Everyone Plus Puppies! – The Owls Approve
I think Beka’s The Owls Approve is probably one of the most under appreciated (mostly) equestrian blogs out there.  She can be incredibly funny, is a good writer and has this fantastic relationship with her horse.  Archie’s best interests are always in the foreground, and I love discovering their relationship through the blog.  This is a great place to get ideas from a new perspective (coconut oil… who knew?) , gorgeous dog photos and a warm & fuzzy feeling watching a great horse and rider pair.

Wolfpack in the House Shoutout – House on a Hill
Back in the day, I rode on the NCSU Equestrian team with Britt from House on a Hill.  I was pleasantly surprised to stumble onto her blog one day, and have been an avid follower ever since.  She has a gorgeous horse, Foster, who she competes in eventing with and has all kind of graphic design and photography talents.  Definitely a pleasing blog to follow!

Sister From Another Mister – Fly On Over
Tracy from Fly On Over may be my internet doppleganger, and I’m totally okay with it.  We are very similar in a lot of ways, and she writes an excellent blog to boot!  Follow her journey with Miles in the hunter/jumper world or general equestrian topics, but this is one of my favorites.

Equine Blogosphere Newbie – The $900 Facebook Pony
I would like to credit myself for Amanda’s fantastic $900 Facebook Pony blog since we used to board together, but the truth of the matter is she’s a great blogger and has a ton of really unique ideas.  This is your place to go for hunter/jumper fashion and tack info (all the sales!) plus she has an adorable OTTB and a lot of horse knowledge.  Definitely a great new blogger!

What about you?  What are your “never miss” blogs?

  1. Ok, I admit, I have to go back and read the post about the blogs because I was too busy laughing about the awesome memes! The last one is especially good!

  2. Thank you for the shoutout!! 😀 Totally unexpected, and also explains all the random traffic that’s been showing up…

And I’m sure that one day you’ll figure out who the trainer is. 🙂

  3. Awww, the feels! Thanks! I just discovered A House on a Hill through this and I have a total crush now.

  4. WOLFPACK IN THE HOUSE!! (Thanks for the shoutout!)

Some new blogs on here to me! I feel like the first meme pretty much describes my life, so I’m happy that I have more horsey material with which to feed my addiction!

  5. Thanks Lady! so glad you are entertained by our adventures 🙂 you are always on my “must read” list – even when I’m covered in spit up or stuck on the couch pumping… ah the glory…
