Equestrian Christmas Ornaments

I love Christmas. Love love love love.

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been collecting horse ornaments. It started with a tradition from my great God-mother. Every year, she would give me and my brother an ornament for Christmas. When everyone figured out I was horse crazy, a lot of the yearly ornaments became horse themed.

Over the years, I’ve collected and received a lot of horse ornaments as gifts. To me, it’s a collection that can never be complete. I routinely go to Christmas stores to try and find new ones, and love it when I find a new online retailer that makes a really nicely sculpted english or generic horse ornament.

Since I love these so much, I wanted to try and get some photographs of the collection. Some of these I’ve showcased before when I blogged about some of my favorite ornaments, but frankly my 1.8 fstop lens is stupid fun to play with. Therefore, here’s the 2014 edition!

I have this adorable baby Unicorn ornament that I got when I was a child. Every year I used to hang it as high on the tree as I could get it. Unfortunately now my family uses only generic christmas ball ornaments so my Unicorn stays packed away 🙁

My hubby let me do a horse-themed tree this year 🙂

What fun! I don’t decorate at all, but that almost makes me want to.

I see you have the old state line tack horse Christmas tree lights! I have them but they’ve never actually gone on the tree, I had a four poster bed growing up and I wrapped them from post to post to have glowing ponies surrounding me as I slept.

The pics are beautiful and the ornaments are to die for! My favorite is the santa jumping and the black glittery horse head. 🙂 Merry Christmas!

You have a great ornament collection!

For years, my aunt has given me the “Pony For Christmas” series of Hallmark ornaments; I have a variety of other horse-themed ornaments, too. Johnny’s parents give him a Star Wars ornament every year (and have since he was a kid), so our Christmas tree usually turns into a lot of bizarre vignettes of Han Solo pointing a laser gun at a racehorse. We like it!

My favorite ornament is the very first one I ever got. My grandparents got me a rocking horse for “baby’s first Christmas” — talk about foresight, haha!
